    I got the impression from your comments that corkage uniformly is $25 in the District. Either I didn’t hear it correctly or it came out wrong. Anyway it does range from free to $35 according to this list http://www.weygandtwines.com/dc-restaurant-corkage-list.htm

    It’s capped at $25 – http://www.winespectator.com/webfeature/show/id/44507. Restaurants that charge more than that are either unaware of the law or violating it.
