Video #1: Julian Mayor of Bourbon Steak
Posted by Videos | Posted on 12-06-2011
| Posted inIt’s no secret that I think Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak has the best wine list in DC.
So I recently got together with the Bourbon Steak’s head sommelier, Julian Mayor, to discuss what led to him to become a sommelier and how he develops his wine list. Check out the first part of our interview below!
Enormous thanks to Lisa Mathias, our new videographer. (If you’re interested in food, Lisa also serves as Foodspotting’s DC Ambassador, representing the website and smartphone app while cultivating the local Foodspotting community.)
Great video. I would like to bunk up in that wine cellar.
Nice job. Davey Whitenerchuk — king of all media!
Very nice! Liked all the fancy b-roll footage too 🙂
Bravo Lisa and David! I watched this video like a proud father…so great to see you guys getting these produced!
Nice interview and an impressive wine list. But it looks priced for the K Street lobbyist crowd considering almost every wine seems to be at least 3x retail.
@Bob Davis — Bourbon does have some crazy expensive wines, but the “Secrets of the Sommelier” list offers some great deals. I shop almost exclusively from that list, and Julian has introduced me to some incredible wines as a result.
Congrats to David and Lisa on Video #1. I ate at Bourbon Steak a few years ago when visiting my son who was undergrad at Georgetown at the time. Tooch knows him. Look forward to the next video. How often do you plan on posting vids? Kudos and good luck!!
Very roughly, the plan is to do about one video each month. This one will end up being 2 or 3 parts, though, so look for another video in the next week or so!
LOVE Julian! Great interview.
