Interviewing Peter Weygandt (Part 1 of 4)

Posted by | Posted in Videos | Posted on 05-21-2012

It’s no secret that I think wine importer Peter Weygandt has one of the best portfolios. And his retail shop — Weygandt Wines — is one of my favorite shops in DC.

So I recently got together with Peter Weygandt to learn how he fell in love with wine, why he decided to start importing and retailing, and what excites him.

Discussing Trends with Wines.com

Posted by | Posted in Videos | Posted on 04-05-2012

A few weeks ago, I headed to Austin, Texas to meet with the folks at Wines.com and taste some of California’s most delicious white wines.

I brought along three wines, all of which were included in my “11 Most Memorable Wines” of 2011. The first wine we tasted was the 2010 Massican Annia. The second wine was the 2010 Matthiasson White Wine. The third wine was the 2007 Chimney Rock Elevage Blanc.

In the final part of my conversation with Bill Elsey, Wines.com’s resident sommelier, I discuss the trends I’m seeing in California’s wine industry.

New Videos from Peay Vineyards

Peay Vineyards is one of my favorite wineries in the world.

I’m not alone in this assessment. Way back in 2006, when Peay Vineyards was still a newcomer, Eric Asimov wrote about the “rare intensity and precision” of the wines.  It was Jon Bonné’s 2009 Winery of the Year, and Alder Yarrow has written that all Peay’s wines are “spectacularly good — so good that I will simply buy any wine they make, no questions asked.”

Yesterday, Peay debuted three videos. The first is on the story of the vineyard; the next two are on Peay’s Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, respectively. Check them out!
