I’ve never tasted the wines of Clos de la Tech in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
But the winery’s owner — T.J. Rodgers, the founder, president, and CEO of Cypress Semiconductor — certainly has quite a vision. He hopes to “make the New World’s Best Pinot Noir… [and] seriously challenge the greatest Burgundies that have dominated premium Pinot Noir production since the 13th century.”
Rodgers recently spent some time with Stark Insider — and the project sounds fascinating. Check it out. And if you’ve tasted the wines, please let me know how they are!

Cointreau is currently on the hunt for a new “Ambassador of Libations.”
And our very own Winn Roberton — a sommelier at Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak — recently won the DC regional competition with his original elixir, the Pugliese. He’ll head to New York City on October 14 to try for national victory.
Yesterday, he appeared on NewsChannel 8’s Let’s Talk Live to discuss the competition and share some fun drink recipes. Check it out!

From Ray Walker of Maison Ilan, a brief (and beautiful) walkthrough of Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru “Les Feusselottes.” Definitely worth watching!

Thanks to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Paolo Lucchesi, I just discovered “Wine Country,” an amazing rap song/video from Russian Hill Projects. It’s as catchy as 2Pac’s “California Love,” but more relevant to the wine crowd.
Check it out! And don’t forget your magnum of cuvee Chardonnay. (There’s already a Facebook page for the song.)

This week, I’ve been posting pieces of our four-part video interview with wine importer Peter Weygandt.
In Part 1, published Monday, we discussed how Peter fell in love with wine and why he decided to start importing and retailing. In Part 2, published yesterday, Peter explained how he finds new producers and offered his thoughts on France’s 2011 harvest. In Part 3, Peter talked about his favorite wines and offered some advice for those who are looking to get acquainted with European wines.
In our 4th and final video, Peter talks about “honesty” in wines and winemaking, as well as the issue of counterfeit wines.
Enormous thanks to Lisa Mathias, our videographer.
